Really is made with tree sap! Starting with 6.5 gallons of sugar maple sap tapped by a friend of mine. Do NOT actually add maple syrup to this! I only included it to get a rough estimate of the amount of sugar 6.5 gal of sap will add (maple syrup typically boils down 40:1).
This uses a recipe similar to a Chinook IPA but only lightly hopped with Nugget. The extract used is Breiss CBW Pilsen Light, the specialty grains are CaraMunich III. Version 1 of this recipe was a little too sweet and dark for the aim, so I reduced the malt and grains, and replaced with cane sugar. Also, increased the boil volume, reduced the boil time, and used late additions for half the malt.
Almost the same as my previous one which i loved, main malt difference was swapping Vienna malt for Munich and no 60 minute hop addition. yeast is 1272 instead of 1056. other than that this is the same beer.
