This idea came from speaking to some of the brewers at a recent micro brewery festival i went along to. Many of them saying how 20 minute hop additions are all that is required as the IBU's come from late hop additions, but just in much larger quantities. Such large late hopping means big flavour as well as the bitterness, i'm making this at the weekend!

This recipe was cloned from Backdoor Brewing Citra clone of Kern River Brewing IPA.

Notes:

flavour was incredible, but needs to be drunk quickly as the hops faded pretty quickly.

This is great! Are you concerned about DMS (Dimethyl Sulfides) ? I recently brewed a hop forward double IPA and only add hops in the last 25 minutes of the boil, but I still boiled for 60 minutes to reduce DMS flavors. I'm curious if you'd notice a perceivable difference in boiling for only 20 minutes versus a full 60 or 90 minutes.

i spoke with the guys at the homebrew shop when i was getting my ingrediants. i did end up boiling for an hour for the reasons you have mentioned, but i kept the hop additions as per the recipe here. fermenting now but the smell was and is incredible!

Great to hear. It's amazing was a 20 minute boil can add to a beer. Let us know how it turns out!

finally got this one into the keg and sampled it, WOW!! what a flavour, it literally is l think the best beer i've ever made! the hop flavour is in your mouth for about 3-4 seconds after you have swallowed the beer, im absolutely delighted how this has turned out!!
