Beta rest at 118F for 20. That was the only part of the brew day that went as planned. Couldn't hit target master temp of 149 bath until three infusions later. Batch Sparge technique failed to reach above 158F. After Sparge, there was still liquid in the mash tun. First time growing on electric glass top stove. On able to control temperature. Had a boil over.still boiling right now.

Bubbling away in basement. Smelled like a premium hopped coffee.

Temp at 70F. FG 1.014. Taste the roasted malts quite a bit. Not the character I was aiming for to this point. Want English malts instad of Briess and German.

Not sure how the hops will evolve.

S04 contributing frustrating aftertaste. Tart rubber. Done with this yeast. This beer would have been good.

Aftertaste faded. Beer not bad.

Must change dark malts to English. Must allow fermentation to finish.

Keg emptied(1/2 gallon dumped) and filled with Dragon APA. The cascade hop flavor didn't come through properly until about 5 days ago. I recall a few hiccups on brew day and I think I'd skip the flavor hope for a good bitterness and good malts. No diacetyl rest hurt. First brew in a few years.
