Tasting Notes (2)

ElLupulitoBandito

Tasted on 7/11/2018 by ElLupulitoBandito

Notes:

This beer was afflicted by a spiteful sulfur presence from the get go. A month and a half after brew day, the beer is about the best it has been with most but not all of the sulfur character gone. Appearance is a slightly hazy but not nearly translucent straw color. Generous pure white head that doesn't last long and reduces to all but gone without lacing. Aroma still has sulfur but with sweet malt, alcohol, lemon, slight banana and some grassy hops. Perhaps an iota of DMS. Flavor is quite mild, very simple sweet malt and some grassy hops. Distinct bitterness, medium light body, prickly carbonation and a dry finish. Interesting how it tastes malty sweet but finishes as dry as it does. My overall impression is disappointment concerning the sulfur contamination but reflectively impressed by the subtle fermentation character. Kind of like a Pilsner fermented with an estery ale yeast. I think the base beer is quite refined and would be a suitable base upon which to build a complex beer.

Notes:

Not racked to keg yet but tasted after 3 weeks in primary and it tastes good. Nose is banana, alcohol, lemon, slight sulfur. Flavor is slight banana, alcohol and bitter spice.
