Mash Steps

No mash steps in this recipe

Special Instructions

1.
Mash 2 hours. Grain in @ 55C for 1/4 hour
2.
Then 1/4 hr @ 60C then up to 66C for 1.25 hrs
3.
Then to 70C for 1/4 hr then temp up to 77C
4.
Wort recirculated through the grain bed then run off
5.
Sparge with water at 77C.(pH 5.4) On to boil with Extract/Dex
6.
First hops in after 30 mins boil time. Others as above
7.
Britewort added for last 10 mins. of boil.
8.
Wort chiller inserted for 2 min in boil to sterilize
9.
Final hops in at flame out
10.
Chilled water passed through wort chiller for 30 mins. (22C)
11.
Made up to 5 gals with cold water.
12.
Yeast added at 22C SG 1.045
13.
20 hrs later fermenting well SG 1.040
14.
5 days after brewing. Racked SG 1.012. Dry hopped as above
15.
Racked off first dry hops 3 days later (11th Jan. 2018)
16.
Second batch of dry hops, Citra, added SG1.008
17.
Cold Crashed on 21st Jan. 19 days after brewing
18.
2 days later (23rd Jan.) SG 1.006. Bottled with 85 gms Dex.

Notes:

Very pleased with this Pale Ale. Very good hoppy arome on opening the bottle with a first sip hit of Citra hops. Will make this again.
