Special Instructions

Things to do 2 hours before you brew:

Put 3 gallons of water in the fridge. We'll use it to cool the beer later.

Now, to brew! Grab a cold beer, preferably a home brew.
4.
Heat 2.5 gallons of water to 152-155.
5.
Steep specialty grains for 20 minutes.(all the grains in the kit)
6.
Pull specialty grains out. Let it drip out, but don't squeeze it.
7.
Bring to a slight boil.
8.
Turn off heat source. (to prevent boil overs)
9.
Add your LME. Pour it in slow, while stirring ensuring that it doesn't stick to the bottom.
10.
Bring to a rolling boil. You now have wort! It will need to boil for 90 total minutes.
11.
You're beer needs to boil for a 30 minutes. While its doing its thing, make your yeast, & clean up your area.
12.
Make a yeast starter. Here's how: Boil 1 cup of water. Add1/4 cup sugar. Let cool to room temp. (68-70 degrees) Add yeast to water. Cover it with plastic.
13.
After 30 minutes, Start a countdown timer for 60 minutes. You beer boiled for 30 minutes, and has 60 minutes left.
14.
Hops additions are listed as a countdown. Add the hops when the time time left has been reached.
15.
Add the 3 gallons of water we chilled earlier.
16.
Once you've finished the boil, remove the pot from the stove, and cool it quickly use a wort chiller.
17.
If you don't have a wort chiller, bath it in snow or ice water.
18.
Once it reaches 70 degrees, pitch your yeast.
