Brew Session: Aisling Nepenthe Pale Ale

Brewed in shed. Fermenter in shed.Hot liquor tank hot water transferred to plastic mash tun. More water added and heated in HLT. After stable temperature it was too high 161. Tried to lower the temperature by adding cold water to mash tun. Ran herms pump to stabilize temp, and to clarify the wort. Runoff of 7 gallon then sparge adding from HLT to mash 3-4 gallons. 11 gallon wort collected.Herms was difficult to gain desired temperature.
